The Communications Workers of America (CWA) recently announced that developers at Wizards of the Coast, a subsidiary of Hasbro responsible for developing Magic: The Gathering Arena, are formally seeking to join the CWA union. The newly formed union branch has been named United Wizards of the Coast (UWOTC-CWA).

According to the CWA, the union charter has received supermajority support among employees, indicating that the majority of developers are in favor of unionization. The CWA has filed a formal election petition with the National Labor Relations Board (NLRB), though the petition will be withdrawn if Hasbro voluntarily recognizes the union before May 1.
